What are Cub Scouts all about?

At a high level, cub scouts focuses on offering citizenship, character, personal fitness, and leadership for youth in grades K to 5. Our program is meant to help kids learn important life skills, make friends, and HAVE FUN!

Who is the cubmaster of Pack 97?

Chaz Bjernestad - an Eagle Scout, that has been the Cubmaster since 2022. He has 3 children (2 who are in the program and the third who will join next year) and is very passionate about delivering a great program and growing the scouting movement in Norwalk.

What activities does the pack conduct?

There are several types of events:

     1) Den meetings - 1x per month with kids in the same grade
     2) Pack meetings - 1x per month with all scouts from K-5

How much does it cost?

  • Council Fee: $185/year (allows the national scout program to operate)

  • Pack Fee: $100/year (pays for pack meetings, awards, etc)

  • Uniform: ~$75 for all pieces

  • Note: Financial assistance is available for families that need; we never want the cost of the program to deter anyone from joining!

When are the meetings?

  •  No problem! Den meetings can be made up at home with a parent or a make-up session can be scheduled with the den leader

Do I have to live in Norwalk?

No, but if you are outside of Norwalk there may be a Cub Scout pack closer to you; we would still love to have you join us

How involved are parents/guardians in the program?

  • Scouting is a family activity and parent participation is part of the program. Parents/guardians will be a part of each den and pack meeting to help the child learn and develop their skills. We also have parents participate in a committee to share new ideas on fundraising, recruiting, or special events (without an added time commitment).

Where do I get a uniform?

  • You can purchase it online or at the Milford scout shop; its a longer trip but I recommend the scout shop so you can try on items and ask the staff any questions

Where are meetings held?

  • Den meetings at held at the den leaders house; pack meetings are held at Cranbury Elementary school
